Starting Tae Kwon Do at the age of 10 under Grandmaster Seok H. Yoon, Shawn’s studies in the art became an immediate part of his life. Immediately embracing competition in the sport of Tae Kwon Do, Shawn soon realized that Martial Arts was the ultimate form of self-expression. With a lengthy list of titles won, Master Shawn’s success in competition did not come easy. Success came along with long hours of private tutelage continually, under Grandmaster Yoon himself, and direct coaching from Master Thomas Jenkins. It was with the support of his family and instructors that he was able to overcome so much in competition.
As Shawn achieved “Master” rank, he made a decision to give back to the Martial Arts, what it has given to him. Passing down the torch to the next generations to come, Master Shawn is now a Chief Instructor at Yoon’s Martial Arts Academy. Educating students in the ideologies of traditional Martial Arts mixed with a modern teaching style, Master Shawn is the perfect example of the Traditional Master in a new generation.
